Soil Science laboratories
The Soil Science research in UKBRC occupies three laboratories dedicated to (i) Screening biochar for soil functional properties; (ii) Rapid assessment of plant-biochar-soil interaction, and (iii) Soil-biochar fractionation.
These activities emerged as central to the overall objective of obtaining predictive understanding of biochar function in soil and thus, specification of biochar for particular situations or formulations.
Linked to these experimental activities and those of our biochar production team, we established a physical sample archive and commissioned a web-based sample management system. The database is account-driven and barcodes for managing storage and exchange.
